Dr. Jean-Pierre Van Buyten was educated at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, specializing in anesthesia and intensive care, pain therapy, neuroanesthesia and obstetric anesthesia.
Since 2004, he has held the position of Head of Pain center in VITAZ in Sint Niklaas, with a focus on invasive neuromodulation and pain management.
In addition to his clinical role, he also works as a research assistant at the Laboratory for Experimental Anatomy (EXAM) at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). He serves as a mentor for training ASOs (Assistant Staff Officers) and fellows in Pain Therapy.
In addition to his medical duties, Dr. Van Buyten is the founder of the Benelux Chapter of the International Neuromodulation Society.
He chairs the board of ECMT (European Continuing Medical Training), an organization that coordinates more than 40 annual meetings and workshops across the EU to provide education in Neuromodulation.
In addition, he holds leadership positions within VAVP (Flemish Anesthesiological Association for Pain Management).
His extensive research efforts have led him to lecture on pain management at international conferences around the world.
